Huawei continues to suffer the consequences of veto imposed by the US government. The Huawei Mate 30 will not have Android or Google preinstalled apps since they do not have the corresponding license. It was officially confirmed by a Google spokesperson.
These statements were published in Reuters mentioning the uncertain future of the brand’s next terminal. Recall Google cannot grant a license to Huawei. Google executives who claim that the 90-day truce that ends on November 19 does not affect the new devices.
But this temporary license does not apply to future Huawei products or any future business relationship. That is, Huawei does not have any type of license or approval by the US that allows it to launch a device with Google products. While they could opt for an open-source version of Android, it will not have all the services and apps preinstalled from Google.
On the other hand, Huawei has a Plan B with its own operating system, Harmony OS. But this does not seem to be a viable solution in the near future. Huawei also replied it will continue to use the Android operating system if the US government allows it . Otherwise, they will have to use their own operating system and ecosystem, HarmonyOS . According to plans, Huawei Mate 30 will be officially launched on September 19. So, until then we have to see what strategy the brand adopts at this new crossroads.
