Nearly 1.65 Lakh Idols Immersed During Ganpati Festival in Mumbai

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most popular festivals of India and when we talk about Maharashtra, This festival is celebrated will all heart and for 10 days it feels like a festival. In every area, you will see Ganesh Mandals where people assemble for puja and aarti.

Due to the current pandemic situation in the country, the celebration was not at its peak but people worshiped Ganesha will all heart. Nearly 1.65 lakh idols of Lord Ganesh were immersed in water bodies across Mumbai at around 73 natural and 137 artificial water bodies during the festival that started on September 10th, 2021, and concluded on September 19th, 2021. The number of idols immersed included the ones installed at home also.

The highest number of idols were immersed on the 5th day, the total came down to 66,299 idols. 715 Lifeguards were deployed at different locations including various artificial and natural immersions sites to prevent anyone from drowning.

The most popular idol in Mumbai ‘Lalbaug Cha Raja’ was immersed at Girgaon Chowpatty by around 3 pm on Sunday said a BMC official.
