OnePlus has today inaugurated its first Research and Development center in India. The R&D center is located in the city of Hyderabad. As per OnePlus, the Research and Development center will focus on software features mainly. It will cover areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, IoT and a few more things for now.
OnePlus R&D Center in Hyderabad
As per the company, the R&D center in Hyderabad is its biggest ever R&D center till now. The center will be hosting over 1500 employees in the next few years. Vikas Agarwal, the general manager of OnePlus in India, said that the team will work on features for OnePlus’s Oxygen OS for India and other global markets.
The Chinese company will set up three labs in the new office. Among the three labs, one will be for a camera experience improvement lab. The second one will be an automation lab where aging of a device will be tested. In the final lab, which will be a network research lab the company will be testing its ongoing 5G development.
Szymon Kopec who is the product manager of OnePlus in India said that the camera team in Hyderabad will be working along with the camera team from Taiwan and this will improve the image quality for the customers in future.
The Chinese company has claimed that it will invest more than Rs. 1000 crore into the R&D center in the coming years. OnePlus says India has always been an important market for the company and thus they will be working to improve their device as per the user base of the country. Just like it’s brother company Oppo, OnePlus is also aiming to use the enormous software talent of India to make themselves more noticeable in the country and around the world.
