Smartphone Sales Will decline in 2019! – Says a Survey From Gartner

Gartner, the Global Market research firm has done some prediction which is enough to give tension to many tech giants. As per their recent survey, the Global market will notice a decline in Sales in the year 2019! This survey is shocking but true.

Why there is a possible decline in the Sales of Smartphone?

First things first, people are crazy for gadgets. At such time, when a smartphone is your true companion these stats indicating 2.5% decline are not digestible. But, it is all due to less innovation in the mobile phone manufacturing companies.

People always crave for new technology and exciting features in their devices. But, since last one year, there is no noteworthy technological upgrade brought by any tech-giant. Therefore, people are not upgrading or changing their devices.

As per the Gartner report,

Global shipments of devices – PCs, tablets and mobile phones – will total 2.2 billion units in 2019, a decline of 3.3% year-over-year. Declining 3.8%,The mobile phone market is set to record the worst performance of these device types.

Even Research Director of Gartner, Mr. Ranjit Atwal states,

β€œThe current mobile phone market of 1.7 billion shipments is around 10 percent below the 1.9 billion shipments in 2015”

What is the future?

As per the report, the current lifespan of a high-end smartphone will increase to 2.9 years which is at present 2.6 years. Although the 5G Network is there in the World. It will take pretty much time to reach the major markets. Apart from that, the mobile carriers are yet to prepare for 5G Network.

On the basis of available statistics, 5G will cover only 7% of the world by the end of 2020. Which will increase to 51% in the year 2023!
